Spring Break

Avery's first Spring Break as a kindergartner! She was very confused. First, she had her Easter Party at school the Friday before and I attended. It was my first party. THen everyone kept saying- see you after the break...As we left the school she wanted to know who's class she would be in next year. I told her I had no idea- turns out she thought the next week she woudl start 1st grade.

The beginning of the break we did a lot of running. Doctor appointments, car repairs, cleaning the house, back to the doctor with rashes (a strep rash?) or an allergic reaction. Lots of craziness. Which was fine because it was too cold to do anything outside. However, Friday brought AMAZING weather. We loaded up the kiddos, including Karlie, and headed to Natural Bridge. We parked at the lodge and hiked the .5 miles up the bridge. Keep in mind, this was not .5 miles of flat hiking.

I don't think Brian realized how steep it would, because it was his idea that he would carry Jacy on his shoulders and it would be no problem. I have hiked that trail several times and knew it would be a big deal- thus I did not volunteer to help carry her.

Jacy's First Dentist Appointment

I took off a half-day from work to make the trip to the dentist. Jacy finally has learned to brush her teeth and spit- so I assumed she was ready for the dentist. I know everything says to start at age 2- but I am pretty sure when Jacy was 2 she would have thrown crazy fits, so I went with my better judgement and waited.

We hyped her up the night before and on the way to the dentist. Mommy #2 (Avery) continued to talk about how cool the dentist was. Avery went first to show Jacy how it works and Jacy sat and watched. The dental hygienist that cleans our teeth is SUPER nice and great with kids. She just brags on them and shows them how to use their toothbrush, etc.

Jacy climbed right up in the chair when it was her turn and did an excellent job. She smiled, she talked- she was just awesome! It is hard to explain how incredibly proud I was of her and Avery. We spent two hours total between all 3 of us having our teeth cleaned, x-rays, etc and not once did either of them get in trouble!

Way to go girls!!!

Jacy and Jonah

Jacy and Jonah are big buddies. Jacy allows Jonah to attack her as soon as he gets out of his cage and she hardly ever whines about it. She always has to hug him before she goes to bed and if it was up to her (and him) they would share a bed. I enjoyed having a dog when I was growing up, so I hope the girls enjoy it just as much. Avery likes Jonah, but not as much as Jacy at this point. Here are some pictures of their bond!

This features the pair in the morning before school. Jacy was content watching t.v. before I started to take a picture.

This is Jacy saying here, take my pictures with Jonah. Sometimes she gives too much love to Jonah and he just wants away from her, but he's never mean about it.

Shadow Box

I gave up Facebook for several reasons, but it seems I have picked up another BAD habit...Pinterest! At least with Pinterest I get to pick and choose what I look at it and it provides me with great recipes and ideas for things to do with/for my family. I found the neat idea for making a shadow box for the girls' baby memories.

When I found the idea, I wondered where exactly is their baby stuff? I was a wonderful Mom the first time...Avery's memories were in a beautiful plastic bag, stuffed in a drawer in her bedroom. Yeah- go me! haha. Jacy's things were located all over the house. The little t-shirt and burp cloth were in a tote with quilts and her "papers" from the hospital were in a drawer in my bedroom. All is well- I found everything that I needed to make their boxes.

We were in luck- shadow boxes were 50% off this week at Hobby Lobby! The little letters were 30% off and the scrapbook paper was 50%! I went in with a coupon, but could not even use it because everything was on sale! I already had the paint at home for painting the letters. It is nothing fancy, but the girls love it and we will hang them in their bedroom.

Also- Avery has had some type of allergic reaction or strep- we will not know for a few more days. In her picture she looks pretty swollen, but it is better than earlier this morning.

Painting Princesses

The girls received a paint set in their Easter basket with 2 pictures each. Jacy received Minnie Mouse and Avery got princesses. I think the Easter Bunny did a FABULOUS job considering in the pictures each one is wearing shirts that "match" their painting. I took pictures just a few minutes in and you can see how hard they were at work. I am embarrassed to say this was our first painting experience at home.

Snow Day

Yesterday Powell County schools were out for snow! The wanted to play in the snow and I said it was up to their Daddy. Of course, Brian said yes. He loves it more than they do. I helped them get dressed, but I refused to go outside.

Avery had a couple of melt downs because she only wanted to wear ball shorts outside with a short sleeve shirt and a jacket. Which is why she is not featured in the picture...

Once outside, Avery and Karlie had a blast. They were running up the hill, only to slide back down. Despite Jacy's eagerness to go outside, she was quick to come back in. She helped me prepare lunch why the others finished up.

Back to Christmas (2012)

Christmas in March...The past few months have been VERY busy, but I had some great pictures to share from Christmas and then I want to share Jacy's 3rd Birthday!!

Our Christmas traditions consist of Christmas Eve at Mammee's and Papaw's, Christmas morning at home, then on to Nanny's and Pappy's.  This year was a blast.  We really treasure our time off at the break and it was fun having both girls participate in Christmas programs at Church, and Jacy at her school.

What?! A picture of Mommy and Daddy!?!  Who took this??
