Happy Birthday to Avery

Avery celebrated her 6th birthday with an Arielle Birthday Party.  We had a new addition this year with a bounce house that we borrowed from a friend.  The kids really enjoyed it, even though it was freezing outside!  She also invited friends from school and had one of those friends in attendance!  Of course, there is never a dull moment with the rest of the girls in the family.  We definitely missed the McClanahan's this year!
We hid a shell for the girls to hunt and earn a "prize".  They spent a lot of time just playing in the basement.

I really do not know what to think of this picture!

Avery's BIG present!  She has been riding her tiny 12" princess bike, so we opted for a new bike this year:-)

Tooth Fairy

Avery came home Monday night (11/19/12) claiming she had a loose tooth.  She has been trying to say that for a while, but every time I check it was not loose.  Monday it was loose and she wanted us to pull it out.  We told her it just wasn't loose enough yet.  The net morning she came through the house saying how loose it was and she wanted it pulled.  I don't know if she spent the entire night wiggling it or what, but it was very loose.

She contemplated letting Papaw pull the tooth, since he pulled my teeth, but opted to have me pull it.  We tied some dental floss and he first pull it did not come.  It really gave me a queasy feeling to pull that hard on her because I had never pulled a tooth before.  She sort of whimpered, but said try again.  The second time it popped right out!  She giggled/hysterically laughed and shed one small tear.  She is quite the trooper and VERY proud.  She has been practicing her smile so that people can see the missing tooth.

She came home Tuesday for school  wondering if I would pull the other tooth (which is NOT loose).  I told her it would have to wait!!  We forgot the tooth fairy last night, but as I write this post, it is sitting in a Ziploc bag under her pillow.  When I put her to bed she asked, "What if there really is a tooth fairy?"  I asked her what she meant.  She said, "Well, it's kind of scary.  I think that the mommy's are the tooth fairy."  She is too smart for her own good!

When Avery grows up...

Avery's Kindergarten class had the usual Halloween party at school and also were able to go trick-or-treat at the courthouse which is just down the street from her school.  Her teacher requested that students dress up in the attire of their future career.  I figured this would be interesting considering Avery never really says "When I grow up I want to be...." Honestly, the most she has ever said is that she wants to be just like me.  This is both touching and troubling because I know she can do WAY better than me!

When I asked her what she wanted to do she said "Be on T.V."  I poked around and asked like what kind of person on T.V.  She said- just be on T.V.  I discussed some creative costume ideas in which she shot down.  She just wanted to wear a name tag that said "Avery- I am on T.V."  Next, she said a teacher so she could dress like me...Last, she went with a nurse and here is our costume results.

Tennessee Take 2

I just discovered this picture on Brian's cellphone and I wanted to share from our trip to Tennessee.

Happy Halloween

Halloween was cold, cold, cold. Thankfully we only had a few stops to make and then the trick or treat around the track was moved inside to the high school.

The girls made their first stop (as usual) next door at Papaw and Mammee's.  Papaw had a surprise for them- he was wearing one of mom's wigs and fake eyelashes!  Jacy was scared and Avery giggled a lot.  We then headed to the nursing home to see Mamaw Alice- because stopping at Mamaw's house on Halloween is a big tradition.  We were surprised that the residents were lined up as we entered handing out candy, and the girls loaded up again on their way out the door.
Once we were seated and visiting with Mamaw I realized that I needed to take pictures!  Jacy was a pumpkin.  She loved her costume and is still wearing it.

Avery has wanted to be Jesse FOREVER.  I contemplated making a costume (sorry Avery, maybe some day I will be that crafty- perhaps I could make your prom dress....) but our friend Beth let us borrow Allee's costume.  You would have thought Avery was a rockstar:-)

Here are the girls with Mamaw.

Overall, we had a fun night.  The girls did not even want to stop an eat dinner at Wendy's, but were happy to eat there when the girl taking our order was also handing out candy!

We have now consolidated the MASS amounts of candy that the girls received and are hiding it in top-secret locations.
