Little Helpers

I have read articles that discuss the importance of spending time with our kids and it is truely their experiences that make an impact- not the "things" that you buy them.  I see this all the time with our girls, especially my conversations with Avery.  She is at an age where she remembers activities from last year, that we are perhaps doing again this year.  For example- trips to Sydney's house, family cook-outs, the beach, and facts about planting a garden!

Often I am in a hurry and forget to slow down to include Avery and Jacy in what I am doing on a daily basis. My uncle was coming in for a visit last Thursday and I was assigned Sweet Potato Casserole and Broccoli and Cheese Casserole. The girls were BIG helpers with the preperation!

Play-Doh- it entertains my kiddos for at least an hour!

Then it was outside for bubbles!

Yes- Jacy has on a life-jacket while running the john-deer tractor.  It was blazing hot and she insisted on wearing that most of the day!

Rainy Days and Fishing Worms

Avery asked Brian on Monday "Why does God make it rain?"  Brian's response was so the crops would grow and we could have food.  I didn't know this conversation had occurred and while we were enjoying our screened in back porch I pointed out that God gives us rainy days so I don't feel guilty for being stuck inside cleaning.  It gives me a chance to get caught up!  HAHA

It was a rainy day and the girls had been cooped up most of the day playing downstairs and destroying the upstairs!  After dinner the girls and I headed outside- after I coerced Jacy into putting on some clothes.  Note that she chose to wear flannel Minnie Mouse P.J.'s....this is after her and Avery ran around the house in princess dresses and winter snow boots...Eventually Jacy just went with Minnie Mouse panties and snow boots- I do not have a picture of that for obvious reasons!

Jacy LOVES her kitties (btw her "k" sound is a "t" sound...) and ALL of our kitties have been sweet about letting her pick them up and carry them around like babies.

Today I promise I will get her hair cut!  She keeps reminding me- HAIR CUT ("c" = "t") Mommy!

This is the point when the girls found a fishing worm.  If you look hard you will see it at the bottom on the stone below the step.  They are checking it out and oh how I wished I had a video camera.

Can you guess what Jacy is doing here????
STEPPING ON THE WORM...at this point Avery is just looking to see what she's doing, but it is followed with screams of DON'T Jacy!!!!!  This went on for a few minutes with her chasing the worm and trying to squish it with her winter boots!

Avery posing- once all of the worm-drama is over.  She loves to pose for pictures and flash that fancy smile!

Nanny and Pappy

We took a trip to Buckner to visit Brian's parents (Nanny and Pappy) this weekend.  The weather was GORGEOUS.  We drove up Friday night so we could wake up Saturday morning and enjoy the entire day.  We started Saturday morning with Pappy's famous gluten-free waffles and bacon, followed by a morning at the park and afternoon swimming.

Father and Son trying out the swing-set!

The 2nd half of the day was spent swimming

All fun days must come to an end...The girls wanted to sleep together and it made for a sweet picture!

VBS

Avery and Jacy had an exciting week at Mammie's Vacation Bible School at Cat Creek Church of Christ.  Avery had lots of stories to share and enjoyed spending the week with her cousins Abby and Taylor.  Jacy always had exciting stories to share, but we had trouble determining what she was telling us- her favorite part was singing the songs:-)

Unfortunately, I have no pictures to share of the VBS, but this is a picture from Easter at Mom and Dad's house that shows the cousins praying before lunch.  Sweet picture!
